Some family sources have allegedly confirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew, Mamman Daura travelled to the UK on Wednesday August 19. While there are reports of the former journalist and industrialist being flown out on medical emergency after testing positive for Coronavirus, some family sources revealed that he travelled to the UK in good health. A family source told TheCable; “It is true he travelled to the UK on Wednesday. Every other thing is imagined, just to give the story some sensation. He is in good health." Another family source said; “It is impossible that a man, who is over 80, would have breathing problems on Friday and the family would wait for five days before flying him abroad in an emergency. A man having breathing problems on Friday would not attend a public funeral on Tuesday.“The reports said he was flown out in a private jet, although people with medical emergencies are usually flown in air ambulances.“More so, what country in the world is receiving foreign COVID-19 patients at this time? You are required to be COVID negative before you can fly. Every country is paying priority to their own citizens because of the overwhelming nature of the pandemic.“Mallam did not travel to the UK to treat COVID-19 or because of any medical emergency. He is in good health. He went for his regular check-up and there is nothing strange about that.” When reminded that there is currently a ban on international air travels, the source added; “That is a different matter entirely… there have been special flights authorised out of the country, and that does not mean those authorised to fly had COVID-19”. An aide and close friend of Mamman Daura, Aminu Balele Kurfi also told Premium Times that the nephew to President Muhammadu Buhari travelled to London for a routine medical check-up. Kurfi who described reports of Daura's alleged serious illness as inaccurate, said he often travels for medical checks with his long-term doctors based in the United Kingdom. He said; “The whole world saw Mallam Mamman Daura without any sign of illness on Tuesday when he attended the funeral prayer for late journalist, Wada Maida.“I was one of those who saw him off at the Airport and he called me when they landed in London this evening (yesterday).“At 80 years it is natural that he will from time to time undertake medical checks. “If he were sick and the sickness is COVID-19, do you think UK authorities will allow him to travel there at this time?”The post Mamman Daura travelled to UK but in good health - Family sources appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
